Education Initiatives

Learning Recovery Grant Program

The Learning Recovery grant program will fund grant awards of $1,000 to families of eligible low-income students impacted by school closures and remote learning for the purpose of purchasing supplemental educational materials or services. More information about the program, including how to apply, will be coming soon.

Kansas Connect and Learn Initiative

In 2021 $4 million SFRF was allocated through the SPARK process for the Kansas Connect and Learn Initiative. This initiative, administered by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE), provides matching funds for school districts to use alongside the FCC’s E-rate program to invest in high-speed broadband buildout. Safe and Secure Schools Program

In 2022 the Legislature allocated $1 million SFRF for School Safety and Security Grants. The Kansas State Department of Education will administer this funding through the Safe and Secure Schools program, which provides resources to Kansas school districts to assist them build solid foundations of readiness, security, and resiliency. Virtual Math Program

In 2022 the Legislature allocated $4 million SFRF to provide a supplemental math program to school districts across the state. This funding is being administered by the Kansas State Department of Education.
