Kansas Firefighter Recruitment and Safety Grant - APPLICATION PERIOD OPEN
The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is providing no-match grants to volunteer/part-time fire departments across the state for personal protection equipment (PPE) through the Kansas Firefighter Recruitment and Safety Grant (KFRSG). This year, $1.2 million in State Fiscal Recovery Fund (SFRF) dollars were made available to OSFM for this grant through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Efficiency & Modernization Initiatives
Docking Renovation & Kansas Department of Health and Environment Lab
Per 2021 SB 159, $92.5M in SFRF funds were obligated to fund the renovation of Docking State Office Building and construction of a new KDHE Lab.
Offender Management Data System
Per 2021 SB 159, $2M in SFRF was allocated to implement new Offender Management Data System at the Kansas Department of Corrections. This new system will replace the existing adult and juvenile offender management data systems. This modernization will improve ease of use and data management for the Kansas correctional system.
Pathway for Success
Per 2022 SB 267, approximately $6.6M was allocated to the Department of Corrections for the Pathway for Success initiative. This initiative provides technical education equipment at correctional facilities, including virtual welders, commercial driver's license simulators, and mobile devices. Children's Language Assessment Program
Per 2022 SB 267, $386,000 SFRF was allocated to fund the Kansas School for the Deaf's Language Assessment Program serving children age birth to 2. More information on Language Assessment Program’s is available from the Kansas School for the Deaf.
