About – reporting fraud, waste or abuse: 

The State of Kansas maintains the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Portal to support accountability across government programs and Coronavirus Relief Fund or American Rescue Plan Act State Fiscal Recovery Fund awardees. If you suspect fraud, waste, or abuse of these funds, this portal can help you report your allegations to the appropriate people. After reviewing your allegations and obtaining additional documentation as needed, we will refer your submission to the appropriate agencies or departments (if deemed necessary).

***Please note, this portal is for reporting fraudulent use of Coronavirus Relief Funds or American Rescue Plan Act State Fiscal Recovery Funds only. Explained – reporting fraud, waste or abuse:

Fraud is the intentional (willful or purposeful) deception or misrepresentation made by a person with the knowledge that the deception could result in some unauthorized benefit to him/herself or some other person. There are many forms of fraud.

Waste includes over‐utilizing funded services, supplies or equipment, or causing unnecessary costs through carelessness or inefficiency.

Abuse includes activities that result in unnecessary costs to the administrating entity. Note that this is financial abuse, not physical or emotional abuse of a person. Physical and emotional abuse of a person should be reported to the police.

Examples of fraud include, but are not limited to:
• Bribery or Corruption
• Conflict of Interest
• Fraudulent Use of Funds
• False Claims or Statements
• Undue enrichment

Examples of waste include, but are not limited to:
• Using funds on overpriced items
• Buying unnecessary items
• Unnecessary waste of items bought

Examples of abuse include, but are not limited to:
• Buying irrelevant items
• Personal use of funds

You can submit fraud, waste, or abuse of Coronavirus Relief Funds or American Rescue Plan Act State Fiscal Recovery Funds through any of the following mediums:

Submitting applications through this online portal is the preferred medium, but with any medium, you can submit your application in any of the following formats:

• Confidential: We will keep your name confidential and will not release your contact information. If necessary, we may contact you for more information about your submission.
• Anonymous: You can remain anonymous by not providing your contact information.
